ASSP Chapter Meeting Info: Workplace Fire Inspections Samantha Metheny, Deputy Fire Marshal Date: May 5th, 2026 Regular Meeting: 11:30 am Ethos Academy, 4414 S Pacific Hwy, Phoenix, OR 97535
Description: Workplace Safety isn’t just about OSHA… Learn about things the fire prevention division would look for in an inspection of your workplace. Bio: I have worked in Fire and Emergency Medicine for just over 33 years. I have been able to work as a wildland firefighter, EMT for a transporting agency, structural firefighter and am currently a Deputy Fire Marshal for the City of Medford Fire Department. I am a Certified Fire Investigator (CFI), Fire Plans Examiner, NFPA Fire Inspector III, and have earned the Oregon Fire Marshal Certification along with many other code and fire service certifications. My primary focus with the Medford Fire Department is public education. I work to promote fire safety and lifesaving skills for all ages and enjoy being able to share some of my life experiences as it pertains to fire safety. Outreach and education are my way of paying it forward with the intent to positively affect as many people as I can. Come check out the new location for our monthly meetings
2026-27 Slate of Officers for Southern Oregon Chapter of ASSPJames Moulsdale, Communications Coordinator
I am pleased to announce that the chapter nominations committee has completed the nomination selection process and the slate is set. The elections will occur at the general meeting in May. The vote will be for the slate, but recognize that actual elected positions are the President, who automatically ascends to the role from the Vice President position, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Membership Chair, and the Programs Coordinator. The current president becomes the immediate Past-President. The remaining positions are appointed and are on the slate for affirmation of their appointment and informational criteria. All of these positions are voting members of our chapters executive board. Open slots in the appointed position, such as the Government Affairs role, will be filled by the President appointing the candidate. This position was not filled specifically because of candidate access and availability. This vote will be in-person at the May 5th monthly chapter meeting. Safety Committee University - Online
